AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Drops to $799, Pressure on RTX 4070 Ti

Graphics card prices on a much-needed downward spiral, and this doesn't spare even the enthusiast class of graphics cards. The AMD flagship Radeon RX 7900 XTX is available for as low as $799 with retailer promotions. Specifically, an ASRock Radeon RX 7900 XTX Phantom Gaming graphics card is listed on Newegg for $899, with a coupon shaving off a further $100. That's a 30% departure from the $999 MSRP of AMD for the RX 7900 XTX.

At $799, the RX 7900 XTX applies pressure on the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, as the RX 7900 XTX can now be had at its MSRP. The RX 7900 XTX is on average 31% faster than the RTX 4070 Ti at 4K Ultra HD in our testing (the intended use-case of the RX 7900 XTX), and about 21% faster than the RTX 4070 Ti at 1440p (intended use-case of the RTX 4070 Ti). The RTX 4070 Ti is about 4% to 9% faster at real-time ray tracing.

Prices are at the same ballpark for the XTX and the 4070 Ti here in Brazil as well. It's wonderful to see high end GPUs with sane prices again. 799 is what this card should have been released at.

Should be 20%, as 30% would be 699.

After of many years of blown up prices thanks to mining madness, I recommend everybody to wait for more price drops. The avg I hardware prices are still higher than the yearly avg. inflation can determinate.
While an average person living conditions are stagnates or lowering during the last years, these companies were making records on profits years by years.

By other hand, While it seem they are do not care much about sustainability, their GPUs pwr consmptions are jut gaining on both sides. This is not a good way. Only the 4060 marketed by saving on electricity bill, but on other hand that card also have insane high price. And anyway, what is that marketing nVidia is looking around in my wallet, how much I could save on electricity and they calculated into the selling price? BullS...
Drop the price! This is a lower-mid tier card that level were around 250 EUR with VAT only few years before.... (RTX 2060) Now they want to sell the same level card for 320 EUR while no any mining boom, inflation can not descirbe this price diff., and also USD/EUR/TWN currency exchange rate do not explain it.

Again, like the last time you ran a story about this same coupon code for the A770, it is UNIVERSAL on Newegg. This same code also brings the 4070 Ti down to $700. As a result of this coupon code, the 7900 XTX went from being 12.5% more expensive than the 4070 Ti to 13.6% more expensive. So how much pressure is it really putting on the 4070 Ti?

Disrupting 4080 more than anything else. but on the other hand that constant 220 Watt higher power in overwatch and 120 Watts in other games just looks very unappealing.

How much memory has the Radeon RX 7900 XTX got?

How much memory has RTX 4080 got?

What is the difference and which one do you think will age / fine wine better?

In 2014 - 2016, we saw a sudden increase to VRAM utilization in games as a result of PS4/XBox One console games being ported to PC. After that sudden increase, VRAM requirements remained static with 6GB being fine for 1080p and 8GB being fine for 1440p - 4K until now because devs were still just porting games made for the PS4/XBO. Now that games made for the PS5/XSX are finally being ported to PC, we're seeing another corresponding increase in VRAM utilization. I think it's likely that you'll want 12 - 16GB of VRAM to run most games at 4K max settings going forward, but I also think it's likely that it will stay that way until 2028 - 2030, when the PS6 and next Xbox come out. So actually, I think the 4080 will age just fine. 16GB of VRAM is still plenty.

It's sloppy. Along with saying $800 is 30% less than $1000.

I found some data about several games. I think I'll want at least 20GB, just to be sure ;)

I bought my RX 6800 about eight months ago and the price dropped by $140 since and you know what? I absolutely do not miss my 4GB RX 290X. Plus if you can afford a $1K card I'm sure you can afford $60 for Starfield. Technology is supposed to get better and cheaper, be grateful that people are working to make sure Starfield won't be the same mess on launch that other "recent" Bethesda releases were and that you're not one of the poor slobs still stuck on a 1060.

AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Drops to $799, Pressure on RTX 4070 Ti

Any reasonable person will understand than, from now on, in the following days or weeks, we will see how, on average, the price range of RX 7900 XTX will be around 799$ competing against RTX 4070 Ti lets say in the US market. Some models will be more expensive and maybe some others on sale. This price drop is a movement (from AMD, from retailers, from whoever) to make that model more competitive against 4070 Ti.
Right?

So actually all you need to know is:
Newegg 100$ coupon on ASRock Radeon RX 7900 XTX Phantom Gaming
Specifically, an ASRock Radeon RX 7900 XTX Phantom Gaming graphics card is listed on Newegg for $899, with a coupon shaving off a further $100

Do you really think this is the proper way to present the facts to people reading TPU?

I will like it when it drops to 750$ equivalent worldwide, or 750€ in eurozone..

Agreed, the series X only has 10GB of high speed RAM and 2GB of slower RAM, at worst 12GB will be the minimum this generation. My guess is 10GB 3080s will continue to run fine.

Where are you getting 220w more consumption from? TPU shows at worst a 52 watt difference.

Not the 1st nor the last(worst example of such posting from certain "editor" was during that hit job vulnerbilities discovery on some early gen of Ryzen) of such low quality "news" posts and if more forum users start pointing sloppy reporting expect "moderators" to come in to tag posts as low quality or delete posts and at worst Wizzard himself coming to ban said users.

Agreed! I still can't find a card at this price, and nowhere in the article does it mention where to find it. Too vague.

Edit: Still can't find it on Newegg either. There's a coupon alright, but for a free copy of Starfield. Card remains at $899. Any luck anyone?

Nice to see for all the hardcore gamers out there.

At $1100 CAD W/o the 13% sales tax still far out of my budget. Dumping that money into my house or kid’s education fund is what I would do if I had $1100+ lying around.

You'll want 12-16GB to run 4K max settings? Today playing Diablo 4 @ 1440p max setting will devour all 16GB on my 6900XT. The game does not run smoothly at max settings either... I found turning down a few settings helped out game play tremendously. To be fair, you did say most games; however, when you're out to buy a new GPU you aren't looking to buy for most games, you are looking for today's and tomorrow's games. If you don't mind turning down settings, 16GB will be enough. 16GB might be good once GDDR7 hits cards, I don't think our current VRAM is enough.

None. VRAM is not the issue. The raw power is.
But then again, currently there are ZERO games, I mean good quality games that requires more investment in a new GPU

By the time either needs 16 or 24 GB of memory they will all be obsolete, let's not kid ourselves

I'm looking at a 4080 Strix OC White right now, if I can't i'm gonna buy a 7900 XTX TUF OC, that'd be about it, no hard feelings
